| | | Free Spirits - September 2022September is a month where we get to enjoy the best of summer and the best of fall, from boat trips and pool parties for Labor Day weekend, to trips to apple orchards and pumpkin patches at the end of the month. One of our favorite September traditions is the return of football, and more importantly, the return of tailgating! Nothing beats gathering with friends outdoors to eat, drink, and celebrate. This month we provide some recipes and ideas to make this season’s tailgate parties your best yet! | | MoonrunnerThis Maumee Moonshine fueled cocktail is easy to make and even easier to drink. They can be prepared individually in 12oz bottles, or you can batch it in resealable 2 liter bottles for the ultimate tailgate cocktail!
Our Bellwether beverage team’s version calls for Coca-Cola in glass bottles, otherwise known as “Mexican Coke”. It is made with cane sugar instead of corn syrup and is generally regarded as the best version of Coke. The Moonrunner can be made with any cola of your choice though, and can be changed to accomodate any size bottle, from a single serving bottle of Coke, to a 2 liter bottle. 12 oz. bottle of Mexican Coke 1 oz Maumee Moonshine .5 oz St. Elizabeth’s Allspice Dram .5 oz lime juice Pour out 2 oz of Coke from bottle to make room for the other ingredients. Add Moonshine, Allspice Dram, and lime juice to bottle. Using your thumb as a stopper, flip the bottle upside down to “mix” the ingredients.
